RiosWay
Riosway is an app dedicated to protect the lives and livelihood of communities close to flooding rivers by constant monitoring of water levels and quick alert notifications to notify the community. An accessible, easy to navigate app that can send flood alerts to every member of one household. Even if one member of the family is in a remote location.
The goal is to make it as quick and accessible for users to get notifications and also be able to notify their families no matter the device they use.
Sitemap, competitive audit & our users
It was important for us to review other alert pages to provide our users with the best alert service to ensure the safety of their families and them. We reviewed the input of our users and the competitors' audit. We also focus on working on both website and phone apps.

Alerts, detailed information on the disaster, level of threat.

Alerts through text messages on the phone, information about floods.
From paper wireframes to Lo-Fi
It was very important to highlight alerts to guarantee the users never missed one. Pop up alerts were the solution to this. As soon as the user logs in a pop up alert will display ensuring the user is aware of the dangerous flood. After the usability test we found that users would like to view specific information about their farm, separate volunteering from archives and keep maps simple.

Hi-Fi & final product
The color palette and typography, along with the iconography is meant to be contrasting and easy to understand. According to the usability test, users wanted to be able to view their farm information from multiple locations. A very clean design has been created to ensure users older than 60 are able to navigate easily, colors are contrasting enough to visual optimization.

Looking to the future
Our next steps will be to improve the volunteering department to provide as much information regarding ways to help the community. New technology comes every year so we will keep updating the alert notifications. We will also work on adding a "sent to wide alert" to include more than just one household.
